About the role

Our Treasury team members are among the first in the company to get involved in new business initiatives that shape how we grow and scale. They help set up our payment and financial risk management infrastructure by working across functions, products, and regions to centrally manage risks.

We're looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide regulatory coverage for operations in the UK.

You'll be advising on treasury operations, while building out the function as we continue to scale.

Up to shape what's next in finance? Let's get in touch.

What you'll be doing

  • Advising on complex legal and regulatory issues surrounding the structuring of treasury operations, products, and services, both on day-to-day matters and large-scale projects

  • Researching a range of complex legal and regulatory questions, and providing legal analyses and recommendations to support business initiatives and decisions

  • Partnering with Commercial Legal Counsels in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating regulatory parts of agreements and legal documents

  • Drafting, planning, and/or implementing compliance policies and procedures for treasury features, in collaboration with Treasury’s Business Compliance team

  • Identifying, assessing, monitoring, managing, and reporting on operational, legal, regulatory, and compliance risks

  • Partnering with Risk and Compliance to ensure treasury activities align with expectations regarding recovery and resolution planning

  • Monitoring and interpreting changes in the global regulatory landscape that impact Treasury, providing actionable recommendations to leadership

What you'll need

  • A master's degree or equivalent in law, with excellent academic and law firm credentials

  • 6+ years of treasury experience in investment services or financial markets

  • Experience as a private-practice lawyer at a top law firm

  • Experience on MiFID II/MiFIR and EMIRimplementation, and providing legal support in relation to associated policies and contractual frameworks

  • A business-oriented mindset to find actionable solutions to legal and regulatory challenges

  • Ownership skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous situations

  • Experience in broad-based securities, private banking, or asset management

  • A good understanding of financial markets and complex financial instruments

  • Exceptional project management and communication skills to oversee implementation of complex projects

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyse information and identify the key issue/action to drive resolutions

  • Fluency in English

Nice to have

  • Experience working on legal matters outside the UK or EEA
