The role of the Senior Legal Counsel for EMEA is to:


- Act as trusted business partner to EMEA management team regarding the relevant business operations within the EMEA Markets/ sub-region.


- Strengthen the overall legal support experience for EMEA countries.


- Ensure strong collaboration with legal members of other regions and specialization.


- Contribute actively to the overall success of the MH legal function.


 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Lead and manage all legal matters in relevant EMEA countries, including Global Travel Retail (GTR) and Private Client team covering commercial, regulatory, litigation and risk management issues.  

  2. Strategic partner to the senior management team of the relevant region or sub-region.

  3. Collaborate and support other regional legal team members and manage external counsels across multiple jurisdictions.

  4. Draft and negotiate all sorts of commercial contracts including marketing agreements, service agreements, sales and purchase contracts, distribution agreements, outlets contracts, and all strategic transactions across the region.

  5. Ensure effective and consistent deployment of global policies while adapting to local legal and regulatory nuances.

  6. Act as the key liaison between EMEA countries and global legal leadership, ensure alignment and transparency. 


 


PROFILE


 


Education: Qualified French law degree. Commonwealth law training is ideal. 

Languages:

French and English

Professional experience & know how:

• 8-10 years’ of solid experience in general commercial and distribution law gained from leading law firm and relevant in-house legal advisory role. 

• Proven records of managing legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.

• Experience working in a complex, matrixed multinational organization.

Technical & management skills :

• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives. 

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with executive presence. 

• Ability to learn and develop new expertise in different areas of laws.

 

Personal & interpersonal skills:

• Mature, collaborative with high integrity.
