ArcelorMittal is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel France – Commercial Law, Litigation, M&A and Corporate Law. The position is based in Dunkirk, Florange, Paris or Fos‑sur‑Mer (France) and reports to the General Counsel France.

MISSION:

You will provide legal support to the France legal team across all areas of business law, including contracts, industrial and commercial partnerships, joint ventures, restructurings, operations, energy, corporate law, environmental law, as well as construction law (EPC/EPCM, works, subcontracting, construction insurances). The role requires strong project‑management skills and leadership qualities. You will be able to guide and empower stakeholders to drive efficiency and excellence.

You will deliver advice and guidance on a wide range of legal matters in varied commercial environments in France. The ideal candidate has proven experience in French corporate law and M&A transactions, and in the structuring of complex projects and operations at the interface of multiple legal disciplines, with a strong interest in procurement/strategic sourcing and contractual management of industrial projects (construction, maintenance, investments).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a trusted, proactive and pragmatic legal adviser, providing clear, operational guidance while preventing legal risks.
  • Provide legal support for commercial and corporate activities, with a particular focus on procurement and project contracts.
  • Lead the structuring, negotiation and contract‑management of complex agreements (commercial terms, guarantees, penalties, timelines, performance).
  • Design and deliver training for commercial teams and the legal community.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional and cross‑border legal initiatives (regular sharing of best practices, contractual innovation, and enhancement of legal operations efficiency).

Skills and experience:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in an international law firm and/or company, covering a broad range of commercial and corporate law matters, including the negotiation of complex contracts (joint venture/shareholder/partnership agreements, sales, procurement), restructurings, and the set‑up and/or coordination of complex projects and transactions.
  • Autonomous management of commercial litigation.
  • Experience in construction law (works contracts, subcontracting, guarantees, liabilities, insurances) and in corporate secretariat is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and French (spoken and written) is essential.

Education:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in law from a French university.
  • Experience at the Bar or Bar membership in France is a plus.

  • Team and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex legal issues.
