SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL, EMPLOYMENT - PARIS

Information about the position

We're looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Global Employment Legal Team, with deep expertise in French employment law and strong working knowledge of EU employment frameworks. In this role, you'll act as a strategic partner to our People, Finance and business teams, independently owning high-risk employment matters - including litigation, works council relations, and cross-border restructuring - while advising senior stakeholders across a fast-growing, multi-jurisdictional business.

This is a senior, autonomous role: you'll be expected to lead complex matters end-to-end, make judgment calls with real business impact, and shape how our employment legal function operates as we scale.

In this position, you’ll

  • Provide expert legal advice on complex, high-risk employment matters, with deep expertise in French employment law and strong knowledge of EU frameworks
  • Independently manage employment litigation and high-risk disputes — defining strategy, overseeing external counsel, and leading settlement discussions
  • Act as the primary point of contact for interactions with authorities (e.g. labour inspectorate), including investigations and sensitive matters
  • Lead cross-functional projects such as restructurings, works council negotiations, and policy design
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related contracts, agreements, and policies
  • Advise across teams on complex, multi-jurisdictional employment issues
  • Identify systemic risks and proactively propose improvements to policies and processes
  • Build strong processes with People and other teams (training, guidelines, upskilling HR)
  • Manage relationships with external counsel across relevant jurisdictions
  • Mentor and support development of more junior team members

About you

  • Qualified lawyer with proven experience in employment law (in-house and/or private practice)
  • Deep expertise in French employment law, including litigation, works council matters, and restructurings - required
  • Fluent English and French (written and spoken) required; Spanish or German a strong plus given our scope beyond France
  • Strong knowledge of EU employment law frameworks
  • Proven experience independently managing employment litigation and high-risk disputes
  • Strategic, pragmatic mindset - able to translate business needs into legally sound, scalable solutions
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and stakeholder communication skills, including with senior leadership
  • Comfortable working autonomously across multiple jurisdictions, prioritizing and driving projects independently
  • Team player, energized by a multicultural, fast-paced, cross-departmental environment
  • Passionate about technology-driven businesses
  • Note: Local bar membership not required
